Manchester United could land the signature of Bayern Munich centre-back Dayot Upamecano this summer, according to Bild Journalist Christian Falk.
The Red Devils have primarily focused on strengthening their attack this summer and they have signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
The focus could move to other departments this month and Falks claim that Upamecano has stalled negotiations with Bayern due to the Red Devils’ interest.
The Frenchman has under a year left on his remaining deal and as things stand, Bayern have made no progress in discussing a new contract for him.
United are closely monitoring the defender’s situation after their initial interest and could make a late swoop before the transfer window closes.
Bayern are braced for a potential bid, and they are likely to hold out for at least £40 million to part ways with the former RB Leipzig centre-back.
The Red Devils could have a free run at signing the Frenchman.
