One Piece’s Nico Robin Live-Action First Look Confirms A Big Netflix Change

The One Piece season 2 trailer reveals a first look at Nico Robin’s live-action debut, and it all but confirms a major Netflix change from the source material. One of the most important One Piece characters and a future Straw Hat pirate, Nico Robin will be played by Lera Abova in live-action.

Although Robin only briefly appears in the season 2 trailer, it is enough to give us some clues about what Netflix will do with the character. Miss All Sunday is one of many obstacles that the Straw Hats will run into in One Piece season 2, which will cover part of the Arabasta saga. However, it seems like Robin’s role will be significantly changed.

One Piece season 2’s trailer sees Miss All Sunday using her Hana Hana no Mi powers to open a door. While this is a very brief moment, it tells us that Robin will not just appear in the Going Merry, which is where her first encounter with Luffy’s crew takes place, but in other locations too.

We must remember that One Piece season 2 will stop at Drum Island, meaning that Miss All Sunday should not appear anywhere else this season other than the Going Merry. The fact that Nico Robin will be in at least one other location confirms that the Netflix show will give her a bigger role in this part of the story.

Robin is wearing her white outfit, which she only debuts during the Arabasta arc. I think season 2 could show us Robin’s meeting with Crocodile and the officer agents of Baroque Works a little earlier, and use that to set up the events of season 3.

Will Miss All Sunday Be One Piece Season 2’s Main Villain?

Nico Robin in One Piece season 2

While Joe Manganiello will appear in One Piece season 2 as Crocodile, the Baroque Works leader is not supposed to directly face Luffy and the others just yet. Assuming Netflix saves Crocodile for season 3, season 2 will need a different overarching villain who can be the big bad of this next batch of episodes.

Smoker is the most obvious answer, but Miss All Sunday would also be an interesting choice for the main villain of season 2. Rather than quickly meeting with the Straw Hats and then vanishing, we could perhaps see Nico Robin playing a more active role in the Netflix show’s version of the first half of the Arabasta saga.

In One Piece season 1, Garp and Arlong were both recurring antagonists and appeared a lot more than we were expecting. Netflix could now do something similar with Nico Robin, and it would be fun to spend more time with the character in her Miss All Sunday era.
