India Women got off to a solid start after being put in to bat, with Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana adding 64 runs for the opening wicket. Though Rawal fell for 26 and Mandhana followed for a fluent 45, the platform was well-laid. Harleen Deol added 45 off 65 balls, but it was skipper Kaur who turned the innings on its head with a stunning knock.

Kaur’s 102 off just 84 balls was a masterclass in controlled aggression, laced with 14 boundaries. She stitched crucial partnerships — first a 91-run stand with Deol and later a 110-run blitz with Jemimah Rodrigues, who chipped in with a lively 50 off 45 deliveries. Richa Ghosh provided the perfect late-innings flourish with a blazing 38 not out off just 18 balls, pushing India to a formidable 318/5 at the end of their 50 overs.

England’s bowlers had few answers on a flat surface, barring Sophie Ecclestone, who returned an economical 1/28 in her 10 overs. The rest of the attack was expensive, with Lauren Bell (1/82) and Linsey Smith (1/74) bearing the brunt of India’s batting onslaught.

Kranti Goud’s fiery six-for floors England’s chase

England’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones inside the first three overs to Goud, who set the tone early. But a brilliant 162-run stand between Nat Sciver-Brunt and Emma Lamb kept the hosts in the hunt. Sciver-Brunt was nearing a match-winning century when she was dismissed for 98, just as India began to claw back control.

Emma Lamb contributed a solid 68, and cameos from Sophia Dunkley (34) and Alice Davidson-Richards (44) threatened to snatch the match away. But Goud returned in the death overs with fire in her belly. With England needing 32 off 15 balls and three wickets in hand, she scalped Charlie Dean, Lauren Filer, and finally Lauren Bell to complete a remarkable six-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 6/52 in 9.5 overs.

England were bowled out for 305 in 49.5 overs, falling 13 runs short despite their valiant effort. The Indian bowling unit rallied around Goud, with Deepti Sharma (1/55) and Shree Charani (2/68) also chipping in crucial breakthroughs.
