Liverpool will reportedly need to pay around €100 million to purchase Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer.
The Merseyside giants are keen on bolstering their frontline, and Ekitike has recently emerged as the prime target for the hierarchy.
The Frenchman has already agreed on personal terms with the Reds, but the club still need to convince Eintracht to sanction his sale.
Liverpool recently made an opening offer of €80 million including add-ons for the 22-year-old, but Eintract are reluctant to negotiate.
They set an asking price of €100m for the former Paris Saint-Germain man earlier this summer and are unlikely to change their valuation.
Hence, the onus is on the Premier League champions to meet the price.
Otherwise, they may have to pursue an alternative target in the transfer market. Jean-Philippe Mateta could be a fallback option.
The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his Palace contract, but could be permitted to leave for around €46m this summer.
