Ajinkya Rahane opens up about his Test future and response from the selectors



During the third Test between England and India, Ajinkya Rahane made a statement that reflected his deep love for Test cricket. Known for his calm temperament and solid technique, Rahane’s remarks reveal the passion and determination that continue to drive the seasoned batsman. His words underline a strong desire to keep contributing to the game at the highest level, despite the challenges of competition and age.

Ajinkya Rahane opens up on Test future amid India’s transition phase

Rahane, in a chat with Sky Sports on Day 3, said that he still wants to play Test cricket and remains passionate about the format. He mentioned that he is currently enjoying his game and, although in England for just a few days, he brought his training gear along to stay fit. With the domestic season approaching, his preparation has already begun.

“It’s good to be here. I still want to play Test cricket. I am really passionate about playing Test cricket and at this moment, I am enjoying my cricket. Just here for a few days and I carried my training clothes so that I can keep myself fit. Our domestic season is starting, so the preparation has just begun,” the veteran stated.

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from Test cricket, fans always speculate about the futures of Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. As both remain out of the national setup, discussions around their possible retirement have frequently pick up, adding to the curiosity surrounding India’s red-ball transition phase.

Rahane’s talk with the selectors

When asked about his communication with the selectors, Rahane said he prefers to focus on things within his control. He mentioned that he had tried to initiate conversations but received no response. As a player, he believes his job is to keep playing, enjoy the game, and give his best every time.

“For me it’s all about focusing on the controllable thing. Frankly i tried to have conversations with the selectors but again know the things as player i cannot control i mean i got no response. For me as a player what i can do is keep playing cricket, keep enjoying the game and give my best each and every time,” the Mumbaikar further stated.

Rahane has been out of Indian Test setup for 2 years now.
