Arsenal step up Norgaard interest

According to David Ornstein, Arsenal have made an offer to Brentford for the services of Christian Norgaard in the region of €11million and are currently awaiting response. The Gunners see the 31-year-old midfielder as a suitable candidate to replace Thomas Partey in their squad.

Norgaard, a 35-cap Denmark international, signed a new two-year contract with Brentford at the end of March. He joined the Bees in 2019 from Fiorentina, and since then, he’s gone on to make a total of 196 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and contributing 18 assists from his role as a primarily defensive midfielder.

While Arsenal are looking to patch a few things up and bolster their squad for probable battles for trophies, big changes are afoot at Brentford. Manager Thomas Frank has left to take charge at Tottenham Hotspur and is set to be replaced by set-piece coach Keith Andrews, Ivan Toney is long gone, and fellow forward Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly a target for Manchester United. Goalkeeper Mark Flekken has joined Bayer Leverkusen, with Caoimhin Kelleher arriving from Liverpool to replace him.
