‘Really good’: Cole Palmer heaps praise on Estevao Willian

Palmer on Willian

Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer has heaped praise on Palmeiras forward Estevao Willian ahead of his summer transfer to the Blues.

The 18-year-old is expected to join the Blues following the Club World Cup, but he has already made huge progress in his time in Brazil.

Willian has won the man of the match in both games for Palmeiras at the Club World Cup. When asked about him, Palmer told The Daily Mail:

“He’s a really good player. I’ve spoken to him a few times. I’ve had a few conversations with him saying I’m looking forward to seeing him and playing with him.”

Willian has had a productive season with Palmeiras. He has scored 11 goals and provided five assists from 34 appearances in all competitions.

He has predominantly played from the right side of the attack, but the Blues see him as a potential competitor to Palmer in the number 10 role.

It remains to be seen whether the 18-year-old can hit the ground running from the off. He may need some time to adapt to the physicality and high intensity of English football.
