Pakistan vs Bangladesh 2025: Probable XI, Pitch & Weather report for the first T20I

As international cricket returns to Lahore, Pakistan are set to host Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series beginning on May 28 at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium. The series marks a significant phase of transition for both teams, with a focus on grooming emerging talent and reshuffling leadership roles.

In a bold selection call, Pakistan’s selectors have opted to leave out seasoned campaigners Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi. The move signals a strategic shift towards building a fresh core ahead of future ICC events.

Salman Ali Agha has been entrusted with the captaincy duties, supported by Shadab Khan as vice-captain. The likes of Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, and Mohammad Haris are expected to play key roles in the top order, while Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr. will spearhead the pace attack.

Bangladesh, too, bring a fresh-looking squad with Litton Das reinstated as captain, taking over leadership reins during a time of rebuilding. Experienced players Mustafizur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar have been ruled out due to fitness issues, offering new opportunities for emerging talents like Tanzid Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, and Parvez Hossain Emon.

All-rounders Mahedi Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are likely to provide depth in both departments, while Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud will lead the pace battery.

Gaddafi Stadium Pitch Report:

The Gaddafi Stadium track in Lahore is known for favoring batters, offering true bounce and excellent conditions for stroke play. However, early seam movement may aid pacers briefly, requiring batters to be cautious in the powerplay. As the game progresses, bowlers who rely on variations like slower deliveries and cutters will have a better chance of containing runs.

Lahore Weather Report:

Cricket fans can expect uninterrupted action with sunny skies and no chance of rain. According to AccuWeather, the temperature will hover around 29°C, with humidity at 42% and a light breeze blowing across the stadium at 13 km/h. Dew is not expected to play a significant role, which means captains can plan their strategies without weather-induced uncertainties.
