Hull sack Selles after narrow survival

Hull City have parted ways with head coach Ruben Selles after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Championship.

Former Southampton boss Selles left his post with League One club Reading to join Hull in December, after Tim Walter departed with the Tigers inside the relegation zone.

Their fight for survival went all the way to the final day, when a nervy 1-1 draw at Portsmouth ensured they staved off the drop, with Luton Town going down on goal difference.

However, the club have opted to make another managerial change ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, saying in a statement: “Following a thorough review of football operations after a challenging campaign, the club feels a change in leadership is necessary to move the team forward in line with our ambitions.”

Hull also sacked Liam Rosenior exactly one year ago, having narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs at the end of 2023-24.
