IPL 2025: List of England and West Indies players who’ll miss the remaining season

After an unexpected halt earlier in the season due to the India-Pakistan border escalation, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is finally set to resume. However, the revised schedule now clashes with key international fixtures, forcing several players to leave mid-season. England and West Indies cricketers are among the notable absentees due to national duty, with some teams losing key match-winners ahead of the playoffs.

Both the England and West Indies cricket boards have officially announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball series, which will begin on May 29, 2025. With national commitments taking precedence, several players currently active in IPL 2025 will report back to their respective teams ahead of the series.

Here are the list of England and West Indies players set to miss the remaining matches of IPL:

1. England

  • Jos Buttler: The white-ball dynamic batter from England and Gujarat Titans (GT) no.3 has been a consistent performer in the IPL. His wicketkeeping and explosive batting will be surely missed.
  • Will Jacks: A blistering all-rounder for Mumbai Indians (MI), Jacks’ batting firepower and run-containing spells will be a big miss in MI’s quest for sixth title.
  • Jacob Bethell: A rising English talent, Bethell has impressed with his aggressive strokeplay and agility in the field with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
  • Jamie Overton: A fast-bowling all-rounder, Overton offers pace and lower-order hitting. With Chennai Super Kings (CSK) already out from the tournament Jamie’s absence won’t be a cause of concern.

2. West Indies

  • Romario Shepherd: Known for his powerful hitting and seam bowling, Shepherd is a game-changer in the death overs as he did against CSK couple of weeks back. His absence is a huge blow for RCB, who are one of the front runners in this season.
  • Sherfane Rutherford: Rutherford’s hard-hitting abilities in the middle order have earned him a reliable middle order role in the IPL. The 2022 champions GT, will surely miss him.
  • Shamar Joseph: One of West Indies’ brightest new talents, Shamar has already made headlines with his fiery Test spells. However, being with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) he hasn’t got any chance but Shamar could be a vital aspect for side’s future endeavours.
