Arsenal are the front-runners to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres ahead of Chelsea this summer, according to A Bola.
The Gunners are expected to bolster their attack ahead of next season and they have identified Gyokeres as the prime target.
Talks are already underway with the player and his agent. A Bola claim that Arsenal are favourites to purchase him ahead of Chelsea.
The Blues recently signed Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo from Sporting, but they are unlikely to land the services of the Swede.
The 26-year-old, who has netted 47 goals this campaign, has Arsenal as one of his preferred clubs alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.
City have no interested in pursuing his services while Liverpool are in a similar situation. The Reds would prefer a low-cost alternative.
Gyokeres has been impressed by Arsenal‘s project after speaking with sporting director Andrea Berta. He looks poised to join the club.
The striker has a release clause worth £86m in his contract, but has a gentleman’s agreement to leave his club for around £60m.
