Real Madrid have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia this summer, according to Sport.
The European champions recently suffered a heavy 5-1 aggregate defeat to the Gunners in the Champions League quarter-final.
Thibaut Courtois was brilliant in goal with several key saves, but Madrid could not capitalise on the same in the final third.
Courtois’ position is safe between the sticks, but the club are eyeing a long-term successor with Andriy Lunin likely to depart.
They have reportedly identified Garcia as a potential successor and are prepared to provide stiff competition to the Gunners.
Arsenal have been monitoring the 23-year-old for the last 18 months. They are expected to make a renewed offer after a failed move last year.
Madrid could act as a stumbling block for the Gunners. Garcia could be tempted to move to Madrid, who are perennial winners.
The Gunners have made progress over the past few years under manager Mikel Arteta, but have not won a major trophy since 2020.
