The Accountant 2 is the second chapter in director Gavin O’Connor’s proposed trilogy of movies about Ben Affleck’s genius money-laundering accountant on the autism spectrum, Christian Wolff. Another Trailer For The Accountant 2 Arrives

With the sequel set to arrive in late April 2025, the latest news comes in the form of another trailer for The Accountant 2. Unlike other trailers which emphasized the action right away, the latest tease opens with Christian attending a speed-dating event where it’s revealed he actually gamed the algorithm by providing the best possible answers. It then cuts to the main plot of the movie, and explains that Ray King has been murdered and Marybeth has been sent to enlist Christian’s help.

However, the job proves to be too much for even the brilliant titular character, and he must call on his estranged brother, Braxton, to get the job done. The 3-minute trailer then digresses to show a sequence in which the brothers get into a fight at a honky tonk, before finally showing them getting down to business in a gunfight against the mysterious villains of the sequel.

The Accountant Returns In April 2025

Though the movie was rushed into production in March 2024, things went silent until the release date for The Accountant 2 was announced. Coming nearly 10 years after the debut of the original film, the Ben Affleck sequel is currently slated to premiere on April 25, 2025. This is something a departure from the original’s fall release back in 2016, but with less competition in spring, the movie might actually outperform its predecessor.

The Accountant 2 had its film festival premiere at South By Southwest in March 2025, and the initial reaction has been largely positive. Though many details are being kept under wraps to avoid spoilers, the film’s first Rotten Tomatoes score has hovered in the mid 80s, and it is being described as a “surprisingly fun” film (via Entertainment Weekly).

Who Is Joining Ben Affleck & Jon Bernthal?

The cast of The Accountant 2 has taken shape, and it’s being headlined by Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal in their roles from The Accountant. In the 2016 movie, Affleck played the titular forensic accountant, Christian Wolff, while Bernthal played his brother, the hitman Braxton. Along with those two, J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Director Ray King, though his death is the catalyst of the sequel. Meanwhile, Cynthia Addai-Robinson will also return as Treasury agent Marybeth Medina who joins the Wolff brothers on their mission.

The cast has also added several other newcomers, though few details about their roles have been disclosed yet. Christian & Braxton Try To Solve Ray’s Murder

The premise of the story of The Accountant sequel is that Ray King has been murdered by shady figures from the underworld, and Christian is brought in to help solve the case. A key detail is that Braxton Wolff will be a major focus in the sequel. It was revealed that Brax was Christian’s long-lost brother in the ending of The Accountant, so the plot of The Accountant 2 will likely explore this in much more detail.

What’s yet to be revealed is who the antagonist of The Accountant 2 will be, since the mystery of Ray’s death will be the central focus, the mastermind will likely be some sort of hidden figure. Opening with Christian attempting to readjust back to life after the first movie, the trailer then quickly reveals that Ray King has been murdered by shady figures. This brings Christian on the case as he teams up with Marybeth to find out who murdered Ray and why. Along the way, they loop in Christian’s long-lost brother, Braxton, who brings a certain amount of firepower to their battle with the underworld criminals.

Another full trailer for The Accountant 2 arrived in April 2025, and it shows off even more of the action-packed sequel. The three-minute tease opens with Christian attending a speed-dating event, but he’s confronted after it’s revealed he manipulated the algorithm. The trailer then gets down to business as it’s revealed that Ray has been murdered and Marybeth asks Christian for help. The elder Wolff brother then turns to his brother Braxton, and the duo hunt for Ray’s killers.
