The Accountant 2 is the second chapter in director Gavin O’Connor’s proposed trilogy of movies about Ben Affleck’s genius money-laundering accountant on the autism spectrum, Christian Wolff. The Accountant was released in 2016 to instant critical and commercial acclaim and was a certified box-office success for studio Warner Bros. Both Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal gave career-highlight performances as Christian and Braxton Wolff, and the ending left audiences with a demand for more.
The sequel to The Accountant has been on the cards for several years. Gavin O’Connor is returning to direct, with both Affleck and Bernthal back again to lead the cast in a story that will feature the latter much more than the previous installment. The Wolff brothers duo was one of the strongest aspects of The Accountant, and they are now the focus of the sequel’s plot. Though it took almost a decade for the much-anticipated sequel to finally arrive, The Accountant 2 looks to build upon the successes of its predecessor.
