IPL 2025: Fans brutally roast Preity Zinta’s Punjab Kings for their ugly collapse against KKR

Punjab Kings (PBKS) endured a shocking batting collapse on their home ground on Monday (April 15), getting skittled out for a meagre 111 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first, the home side’s innings unravelled quickly, lasting only 15.3 overs.

Poor outing for PBKS batters against KKK in Mullanpur

The innings began with promise as Punjab openers Prabhsimran Singh (30) and Priyansh Arya (22) came out firing. Their aggressive approach initially suggested a large total was achievable, potentially pushing past the 200-run mark and thrilling the Mullanpur crowd.

However, the early momentum proved short-lived. Once the opening pair departed, the Punjab batting lineup disintegrated under pressure from the Kolkata bowlers. The middle order offered little resistance; captain Shreyas Iyer was dismissed without scoring, while Nehal Wadhera (10), Josh Inglis (2) and Glenn Maxwell (7) couldn’t make substantial contributions or stabilise the innings. Wickets fell at regular intervals, halting any chance of recovery.

Towards the end of the innings, a small contribution from Shashank Singh, who scored 18 runs, helped nudge Punjab Kings past the 100-run mark, saving them from an even lower total.

The Knight Riders’ bowlers executed their plans effectively to dismantle the Punjab batting order. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers, securing 3 crucial wickets. Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine maintained the pressure, claiming 2 wickets each. Vaibhav Arora and Anrich Nortje also chipped in with one wicket apiece, ensuring the batting side never regained control.
