Game of Thrones is a fantasy franchise that’s filled with memorable characters, all of whom have a role to play in the fate of Westeros, however small that might be. That said, there are some who make a much more significant impact in one way or another, either in the world of politics and intrigue, on the battlefield, or through their personality.
The one character who transcends all of that is the Night King, who serves as the great overarching threat while everything else is simmering away. His army of undead threatens from beyond the Wall, and his eventual arrival is supposed to spell the doom of the entire continent (though we now know it doesn’t).
Now, one of Game of Thrones‘ ongoing adaptations has announced a new event, and the Night King himself is set to feature at the center of it.
In case you haven’t been introduced to it as of yet, Game of Thrones: Legends is a narrative-driven puzzle RPG mobile game that essentially functions as a match-3 game at its core. As part of their October 2026 event calendar, developer Zynga confirmed a number of upcoming events, including the Battle of Blackwater Bay.
Named after the famous battle just outside King’s Landing, the Night King is included among the featured Legendary Champions for this latest effort. In sharing all of the details players will need to get involved, the developer released the following breakdown:
“The Battle of Blackwater Bay Event will be available during these times:
- Thursday, October 22, at 4 a.m. ET to Monday, October 26, at 2 a.m. ET.
In addition to the Battle of Blackwater Bay Event, the Blackwater Summon will run slightly before and after the event:
- Thursday, October 22, at 1 a.m. ET to Monday, October 26, at 2 p.m. ET.
This summon will feature Legendary Champions Davos Seaworth (Hand of Stannis), Viserys I Targaryen, Daemon Targaryen, and The Night King.”
A similar quest event is being run for the Battle of the Bastards, from Thursday, October 8, at 4 a.m. ET to Monday, October 12, at 2 a.m. ET, and the Assault on Rook’s Rest, from Thursday, October 29, at 4 a.m. ET to Monday, November 2, at 2 a.m. ET. There are also other events running, including one rooted in Robb Stark’s war for the Iron Throne, and popular spin-off House of the Dragon.
Meanwhile, fans of the wider universe that George RR Martin created have plenty to look forward to on the television front as well. House of the Dragon’s fourth season is set to premiere in 2028, while you’ll be able to tide yourself over with the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which goes live in the first half of 2027.
