Earlier this year, we featured three women’s wedding hairstyles. We felt so inspired (that rose updo!) that we decided to talk to three more brides about their stunning looks…

Sleek Ponytail

“While searching online for hair inspiration, I saw lots of buns and updos, but I wanted something modern and sleek,” says Sheila Hoang (remember her joyful proposal story?), a strategy designer in Dallas. “Then, on Instagram, I saw a Chinese bride, who’d wrapped red thread around her ponytail. I thought it was so cool. After that, I kept noticing runway photos from Asian designers who had their models wearing low ponytails with ribbons or leather tied at the base. I asked my hair stylist to replicate the look with elastic silver string.”

“I love how whenever I turned around, people could see my hair flowing down my back. When my husband, Denzell, saw me, he said ‘Oh, my god, you look GQ!’, which was his way of saying I should be in Vogue. I started laughing because I’d never seen him react that way to any outfit before!”

Side-Swept Curls

“As a girl with stick-straight Asian hair, I’d always dreamed of having big curls,” says cookbook author Molly Yeh. “Once my hair was curled, we pulled back the front pieces so that it would stay in place while I danced the hora.”
“When I went for my hair trial before my wedding, we did a big curly ponytail. But I felt like my hair was destined for another style. So, going into the wedding day, I was flying blind, but I trusted my hair stylist. She created my exact vision — it felt special without being fussy, and wearing my hair down helped me stay warm during a snowy Minnesota wedding.”

Old-Hollywood Glamour Waves

“On my wedding day, I wanted to to look like myself but more,” says Philadelphia-based author Emma Copley Eisenberg of house tour fame. “I have a cowlick that prevents me from wearing a middle part, so I went with a side part, which reminded me of old Hollywood glamour.”

“My wedding dress was simple, so I wanted my hairstyle to be simple.”
“My hair was swept up and out of my face — I’m a big cryer, and I needed a hairstyle that wouldn’t be disturbed by my big feelings!”
What hairstyle would you want to wear on your wedding? If you’re married, would you still choose the hairstyle you wore?
P.S. How to crush at officiating a wedding, and a beautiful beach proposal.
