AC Milan are considering a move for Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari as the Italian giants look to strengthen their squad, with the Sweden international emerging as one of the club’s midfield targets.
AC Milan ready to test Brighton with January bid for Yasin Ayari
Italian reports claim Milan have been closely monitoring the 22-year-old following his impressive performances for Brighton and Sweden. Ayari’s versatility is believed to be particularly attractive to the Serie A side, with the midfielder capable of operating in defensive, central and more advanced roles.
Milan’s interest comes at a time when Brighton are attempting to secure Ayari’s long-term future. His current contract expires in 2027, although the Seagulls hold an option to extend the agreement by another year. Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has publicly expressed his desire to continue working with the midfielder.
Brighton have already demonstrated that they will not allow Ayari to leave cheaply. Nottingham Forest saw a £20 million bid rejected in January 2026, while more recent reports suggest Brighton could now demand in excess of €40m for the Swedish international.
Liverpool and Chelsea have also monitored Ayari’s development, while Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have explored his availability, increasing the competition Milan could face for his signature.
A January approach from Milan cannot be ruled out if the Rossoneri decide to accelerate their plans, particularly if Ayari’s contract situation remains unresolved. However, reports in Italy currently suggest a summer move is considered more likely, with Milan expected to prioritise defensive reinforcements during the winter window.
Nevertheless, Ayari has firmly entered Milan’s thinking, and his performances over the coming months could determine whether the Italian club brings forward its plans and tests Brighton‘s resolve with a January offer.
