Charlie Sheen is set to return to TV with the perfect project for a variety of reasons, chief among them being a Two and a Half Men reunion. Sheen is one of the biggest actors TV has ever had. During the peak of his hit sitcom, Two and a Half Men, Sheen was the highest-paid actor on TV, which is no small feat.
The actor starred in the Chuck Lorre comedy Two and a Half Men for eight seasons. After a series of controversies that included public attacks against the sitcom’s creator, Sheen was fired from Two and a Half Men. Charlie Harper was written out of the comedy series, with the co-lead role being given to Ashton Kutcher as the new character Walden Schmidt.
Since his time in Two and a Half Men ended, Sheen has appeared in a few projects. The actor led the aptly titled Anger Management, which was loosely based on the 2003 movie of the same name. Anger Management‘s pilot racked up 5.47 million viewers on FX, with episode 2 amassing 5.74 million viewers, which helped the show break the record for most-watched scripted comedy broadcast in cable history, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
It was clear that there was still an audience wanting to watch Sheen in action. Since Anger Management ended after 100 episodes in 2014, the actor has appeared in The Goldbergs, Typical Rick, Lorre’s Bookie, and the 2025 documentary aka Charlie Sheen. Now, Sheen is set to lead Happy Jack, a new comedy series that features a major Two and a Half Men reunion and should put him back in the spotlight.
Why Happy Jack Is Charlie Sheen’s Perfect TV Return
AMC Global Media has announced that Sheen and his father, Martin Sheen, will co-star in the upcoming comedy Happy Jack. That marks a Two and a Half Men reunion, as Sheen famously played Charlie Harper in the hit sitcom, while his father gave life to Harvey, the wealthy dad of Melanie Lynskey’s Rose. While they have worked together on other projects before, Happy Jack will be the first where the father and son duo are co-leads, which makes the project an incredibly special return to TV for Charlie Sheen. That is not the only connection between the new AMC series and Sheen’s popular comedy.
Happy Jack hails from writers Jim Patterson and Matt Ross. It just so happens that both of them previously worked on Two and a Half Men, which means that fans of Sheen’s biggest role to date can expect a new series that is perfectly tailored to the actor’s comedic talents. Finally, Happy Jack will be AMC’s first multi-camera comedy, so Charlie Sheen continues to make history on TV even after over a decade since he was fired from Two and a Half Men. Due to all of those factors, Happy Jack emerges as Sheen’s perfect return to TV.
Will A Full-On Two And A Half Men Reunion Ever Happen?
In terms of bringing back Two and a Half Men and reuniting Sheen as Charlie Harper with his co-star Jon Cryer as Alan Harper onscreen, there are currently no plans for such a reunion. That said, the path for a Two and a Half Men reboot was facilitated by another reunion. After all, Sheen and show creator Lorre made up and ended their feud, as the comedy legend appeared in multiple episodes of Lorre’s two-season comedy series Bookie. Sheen played a version of himself in the show.
The Bookie series premiere also marked a reunion between Sheen and Two and a Half Men Jake Harper actor Angus T. Jones. As such, all that is left is for Sheen and Cryer to reunite onscreen, though the latter has gone back and forth on whether he would be open to reuniting with Sheen for any project, be it a Two and a Half Men reboot or otherwise. For now, Happy Jack will serve as Sheen’s perfect return to TV.
