Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been left out of Portugal’s squad for the Nations League clash against Norway tonight.
The 32-year-old has been a key player for club and country, but he is currently playing through pain, as manager Jorge Jesus confirmed.
Fernandes is therefore not included in the squad to face Norway on the road, and it remains to be seen whether he returns for the next few matches.
The Portuguese was hugely instrumental for the Red Devils last term, and his 30 goal contributions were crucial to their third-place league finish.
He has continued to impress this campaign with five goal involvements, and United will hope that his current concern is only a minor one.
Portugal have two more Nations League matches against Denmark and Norway (home), and Fernandes is touted to return for those games.
United will be monitoring his condition closely and may seek his early return to Old Trafford if he is deemed unfit for the forthcoming fixtures.
