Tottenham defender Pedro Porro set to miss four weeks with hamstring injury

Tottenham defender Pedro Porro is expected to spend around a month on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old has withdrawn from Spain’s squad for the current international break and is unlikely to be available when Roberto De Zerbi’s side return to Premier League action against Manchester United on October 10.

Porro could also miss Tottenham’s home meeting with Coventry City on October 19, although there is confidence that he will recover in time to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge five days later.

The right-back was forced off during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa after going down in the 17th minute at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Archie Gray replaced him for the remainder of the match.

Porro had already missed Tottenham’s earlier games against Everton and Liverpool this month and will now face another spell on the sidelines.

Porro withdraws from Spain squad

Porro had initially been named in Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad for the international break, but the injury forced him to pull out.

Sporting CP full-back Ivan Fresneda was subsequently called up as his replacement.

Djed Spence left Tottenham during the summer to join Inter, leaving Gray as the main alternative to Porro in the position.
