Peanuts Meets Pokémon Snap In Gorgeous New Cozy Game Coming September 29

It’s that time of year when most of us start looking for cozy games to play indoors, and if you’re a fan of Pokémon Snap or Peanuts, then there’s an upcoming title you’ll definitely want to check out. Combining the black and white aesthetics of a comics strip with a gameplay loop that involves taking photos and helping others, TOEM 2 is one of my most anticipated games this year. And if it’s not on your radar yet, be sure to put it there.

TOEM 2 releases on September 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. It also happens to be a sequel to one of the best games of 2021, so if you’ve never played the original, now is a great time to do that too. I raved about TOEM last year, and I was thrilled when the sequel was announced. Thankfully, TOEM 2‘s release date is almost here.

ScreenRant previewed TOEM 2 in June, and if you’re unfamiliar with this series, that will give you a great idea of what to expect. Essentially, TOEM and TOEM 2 are photography games much like Pokémon Snap. Only instead of on-the-rails levels, there are various towns and locations to explore, all while undertaking quests, collecting stamps, and taking photos. Each area also comes with a list of creatures to photograph — kind of like a scavenger hunt.

The sequel has all that from the original, but it also adds tools that add to the puzzle-solving elements. In our preview, for example, we mention getting a screwdriver that helps unclog pipes as we assist Plum’s Plumbing around the city. In other words, it sounds like TOEM 2 will have the stuff everyone loved in the first game, but with some cool new additions. There’s also a TOEM 2 demo, which you can try for free, if you’d like to check all of this out for yourself.

TOEM 2 Releases September 29

TOEM and TOEM 2 may be in black and white, but don’t let that fool you. This is a vibrant and happy world where NPCs want to help each other (for the most part), and you can always take some time to relax and listen to chill music. If you feel daunted by the daily tasks that often accompany life sims (like I do), then give this cozy game a try instead. TOEM lets you do everything at your own pace.

If you love cozy games already, then TOEM 2 is likely already on your radar. If it’s not, then consider checking out the demo and marking your calendar for September 29. Whether you’re a fan of comics strips like Peanuts or adore Pokémon Snap and its sequel, this is the kind of mash-up you should really love.
