Every September I do the same thing: pull out my fall bins, try on half of what’s in them, and realize I’m bored of most of it. This year instead of buying a bunch of random pieces, I built out a short list from Quince mostly because their cashmere and leather prices make no sense in the best way. Here’s what’s actually going into my rotation this season, and how I’m planning to wear it.

The Cardigan That’s Doing Double Duty

This one’s going in the “wear it alone or wear it under something” pile. It’s a light-gauge organic cotton knit with a slightly cropped, slightly boxy fit, so it works buttoned up as a top or open over a tee when it’s not quite sweater weather yet. The chocolate plum brown is exactly the kind of in-between color that makes early fall dressing easier.
A Leather Jacket That Doesn’t Try Too Hard

Quince describes this as top grain sheep leather, and it’s cropped to hit around the high hip with a clean collar and brushed brass hardware. I’m planning to wear it over dresses through October and then over sweaters once it’s colder — it’s the one piece on this list that can go from a coffee run to dinner without changing anything else.
The Jeans I’ll Wear on Repeat

High-rise, wide-leg, with a released hem that gives it a slightly worn-in look straight out of the box. The stretch denim has some give without losing its shape, which matters a lot when a pair of jeans is going to get this much use. These are the ones I’ll reach for with boots, sneakers, or heels — no outfit math required.
The Cashmere Tee I Didn’t Know I Needed

A cashmere tee sounds like a contradiction until you actually put one on. This is a short-sleeve style with ribbed detailing at the neckline, cuffs, and hem, and it’s built to layer under blazers and cardigans instead of competing with them. Ivory keeps it flexible enough to wear with almost everything else on this list.
The Sweater That Covers Every Cold Day

Classic crewneck, ribbed cuffs and hem, and the kind of neutral oatmeal shade that goes with denim, trousers, or a skirt without a second thought. This is my “I don’t want to think about it” sweater — the one I grab when I want to look pulled together without actually trying.
A Bag With Some Texture to It

Most of my bags are smooth leather, so the handwoven texture on this one stood out immediately. It’s a structured satchel with a convertible strap, so it works as a top-handle bag for work or a crossbody for everything else. Merlot is the fall color I keep coming back to it reads richer than black without being a big departure from my usual bags.
The Skirt for Dressier Days

A midi-length silk skirt with a hidden elastic waistband, which means it’s a lot more comfortable than it looks. Quince describes it as machine washable, which for silk is genuinely one of the better selling points here. I’m styling this with the cashmere tee and the leather jacket for the days I want to feel dressed without wearing a dress.
The Duster for Layering Season

Long, open-front, and oversized enough to throw over a tee-and-jean combo when I need one more layer without adding bulk. This is the piece I’ll be living in through the in-between weeks when it’s too warm for a real coat but too cold for just a sweater.
The Cardigan That Replaces a Blazer

This one has a tailored shape and front pockets, so it does the job of a blazer on days when a blazer feels like too much. The ivory and black stripe keeps it from reading too corporate — I’ll wear it over the cashmere tee for work and over the silk skirt for something a little more polished.
The Sneaker That Goes With Everything Above
Italian Leather and Suede Low Profile Sneaker, Birch

A low-top sneaker in leather and suede with a court-style shape simple enough to wear with the wide-leg jeans, the silk skirt, or under the duster cardigan on days I want comfort over anything else. Birch is neutral enough that it won’t fight with the rest of the list.
