Isobel Goodwin has revealed London City Lionesses want to push for the Champions League places in the Women’s Super League this season.

Goodwin scored twice in two minutes on Saturday as London City thrashed Charlton Athletic 4-1, with Jana Fernandez and Nicole Anyomi also scoring.

It was a dominant performance from the visiting side, who accumulated 4.13 expected goals (xG) from 26 shots while restricting Charlton to 0.59 xG from just six attempts.

It marked a return to winning ways for London City, who lost to West Ham in their second game of the 2026-27 campaign and face Brighton next.

Speaking to BBC Two, Goodwin said: “It’s nice to get on the scoresheet, we had to react to last week. Really happy, big win.

“All we needed to do was react, we just wanted to score goals, that’s all we needed to do. It was just the reaction that we needed to last week, so we’re really happy.

“It gives us so much confidence moving forward. There’s a big game next week, hopefully we can get three points.

“I want to score as many as possible, but it’s a team sport. We want to finish as high as possible and hopefully get into the Champions League.”

Alexia Putellas assisted Goodwin’s opener, while the Spaniard also created three chances, won nine of her 19 duels and won both of her attempted tackles against Charlton.

“I’m enjoying the duels, competing, every game is so different here,” Putellas told BBC Two.

“I’m really enjoying it, it’s unpredictable. As a team, we just need to find the weaknesses to score and to win.”
