Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has provided a fresh update on midfielder Moises Caicedo ahead of the Premier League clash against Brentford on the road.
The Blues are presently sixth in the standings with seven points and will be aiming to return to winning ways in the west London derby on Friday night.
Ahead of the game, Alonso has confirmed that Caicedo is close to recovering from a lower-leg injury, and a final decision will be made before the game.
He said: “He’s getting closer and tomorrow we will make the final decision.”
Caicedo has made just a solitary appearance off the bench for the Blues this campaign, and his return to the starting XI would be a huge boost.
Chelsea started the season with two league wins but have lost momentum with a loss to Arsenal followed by a surprise draw against Hull City.
They now face a stern challenge against Brentford, who are tough to beat with home advantage. The Bees are unbeaten in the league this term.
