This Friday, the second season of Guy Ritchie’s London-based gangster series MobLand will be released on Paramount+. It marks the official beginning of a new chapter in Ritchie’s storied career, as he enters uncharted territory, both as a director, and a creative force more generally.

MobLand’s new release follows immediately in the wake of Netflix’s The Gentleman season 2, a global number 1 hit in its own right, and comes just six months after Young Sherlock’s debut on Prime Video. Between them, these three TV shows overseen by Ritchie have taken streaming by storm, becoming some of the biggest small-screen successes of 2025 and 2026.

In spring last year, MobLand broke records on Paramount’s streaming platform which had previously been held by the wildly popular neo-Western releases of Taylor Sheridan. We can expect more of the same this time around, as Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and the rest of the show’s stellar cast have upped the ante for season 2.

Meanwhile, we can expect Ritchie’s newest series to return with a bang in the first half of 2027. Young Sherlock season 2 is already in production, hot on the heels of season 1’s unprecedented success for a British TV show on Prime Video. The period detective drama claimed the top spot in the platform’s charts in no fewer than 95 countries.

MobLand Is Guy Ritchie’s Third Major TV Release Of 2026

Between Young Sherlock and The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s new TV releases this year have already amassed a staggering 61-million strong audience, according to data shared by Prime Video and Variety. We shouldn’t be surprised if MobLand takes this total above 100 million.

Paramount+ has been bracing itself for what could well be its biggest season premiere of 2026 so far. MobLand season 2’s release comes just over a year after the gangster thriller series left Taylor Sheridan’s Landman for dust while setting new streaming records for its platform.

Since then, Ritchie has scored another huge hit with his mystery prequel about the origin story of Sherlock Holmes. Then, just two weeks ago, The Gentlemen returned to Netflix at the top of its global chart, and has continued to pick up millions of new viewers in recent days.

Guy Ritchie has never been involved in more than one TV drama in a calendar year before. Yet, for 2026, he’s effectively been at the helm of three major series at the same time, taking on writing and executive-producing duties, as well as directing a total of seven episodes across Young Sherlock season 1, The Gentlemen season 2, and MobLand season 2 combined.

Guy Ritchie Has Turned Himself Into One Of TV Streaming’s Biggest Names

Within the screen industry, Ritchie’s star is now the highest it’s ever risen. His domination of TV streaming in 2026 is unlike anything we’ve seen before from a major movie direction. It’s also bigger than all his big-screen achievements with the likes of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Sherlock Holmes combined.

Few other creative forces in the industry could even dream of the kind of audiences MobLand, The Gentlemen, and Young Sherlock are pulling in. Ritchie’s streaming takeover is the closest thing we’ve seen in the gangster genre to what Taylor Sheridan has achieved with TV Westerns in recent years.

Indeed, he’s now usurped Peaky Blinders auteur Stephen Knight as the highest-profile British creator in crime television. With the runaway success of three simultaneous releases this year, Guy Ritchie’s TV career is gathering momentum fast, and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

It’s the start of a new era for the director, in which juggling major small-screen projects looks set to become an annual endeavor. He’s already got a fourth project in development, Capital, with Killing Eve screenwriter Rob Williams. Like MobLand, it will follow the exploits of gangsters in London’s modern-day criminal underworld, which sounds right up Ritchie’s street.
