Why There’s No New High Potential Tonight (September 15) & When Season 3 Premieres

Interestingly, High Potential is not yet releasing episodes for season 3. ABC’s fall 2026 lineup has already kicked off with Monday Night Football on September 14. Scripted shows, on the other hand, are officially rolling out starting tonight, September 15, with RJ Decker season 2 — Scott Speedman’s private investigator series that made the waves late in the 2025-2026 TV cycle.

Considering the period, Kaitlin Olson’s High Potential should also be kicking off its new year, as it maintains its Tuesday night day and timeslot. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. September 15’s ABC lineup only consists of RJ Decker‘s season 2 premiere at 10 pm ET, preceded by the two-hour cycle-opener of Dancing with the Stars season 35. Unfortunately for those hoping to get reunited with Morgan and the rest of the LAPD Major Crimes, the wait is going to be longer.

High Potential Season 3 Is Not Part Of ABC’s Fall 2026 Lineup

Unfortunately, ABC has delayed High Potential season 3 to 2027. This deviates from the show’s usual fall release, as ABC made some changes to make sure that it could fit all of its returning series, as well as their new and unscripted ones into their limited slots. This doesn’t mean, however, that High Potential is being demoted — a popular assumption when a series’ release is pushed back. It’s the opposite, in fact, as it shows the Disney-owned network’s confidence in the series, believing that its fanbase will follow it wherever it lands on the calendar.

When High Potential Season 3 Will Premiere

Right now, ABC has yet to confirm its midseason schedule. Because it’s still a few months away, it makes sense that the network is focused on launching its fall lineup. That said, looking at past records, it’s safe to say that High Potential season 3 will debut on the heels of the mandatory holiday break for shows, which means some time in January. The series is expected to roll out new episodes the same week as The Rookie season 9 and Will Trent season 5, which have both been saved for the midseason by ABC for a few cycles now.

What To Expect From High Potential Season 3

High Potential season 2 ended with a couple of loose narratives that are expected to fully play out when it returns. That said, nothing is as important and urgent as learning what will happen to Captain Nick Wagner, who was fatally stabbed in the park when Morgan found him. While Steve Howey is confirmed to be leaving High Potential, it doesn’t guarantee that he will die. Beyond that, the ongoing mystery surrounding Roman’s disappearance needs some sort of movement, considering how long the story has already been playing out.
