United hit impasse in Fernandes contract talks

Manchester United have hit an impasse in contract negotiations with midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reputed journalist David Ornstein.

The Portugal international had a phenomenal 2025/26 season with the Red Devils. He registered one goal and 21 assists across all competitions.

He has started the current season well with four goals and an assist, but this has not necessarily translated into positive results for the Red Devils.

United are currently 13th in the English top-flight with just four points on the board, and the pressure is already immense on manager Michael Carrick.

Amidst this, Ornstein has revealed that no progress has been made on a new deal with Fernandes and there is currently some form of impasse.

Fernandes’ current deal expires in June next year, but the club have the option of keeping him for another 12 months with an extension clause.

If a solution is not found over the next few months, there could be the possibility that United may entertain offers for him next summer.
