Amazon Prime’s Reacher franchise is going to look a little different moving forward. Prime’s Reacher is one of the biggest shows on the streaming platform. With four seasons and another on the way, the series is beginning to rival the longest-running TV shows the streamer has ever had.

With a combined 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s also one of the most acclaimed series on the service. Based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series, Prime’s Reacher stars Alan Ritchson as the hulking ex-military service member who’s now a drifter, going from town to town, bringing justice wherever he goes.

It might be one of the best casting decisions of the last 10 years. Ritchson is absolutely perfect as the silent, hardened Reacher, and every time he performs some unbelievable feat of strength, you actually believe he’s capable. More importantly, Ritchson has the comedy background to lean into the more absurd parts of the role.

He’s surrounded by an excellent ensemble as well, led by Maria Sten as Frances Neagley. Neagley will soon be getting her own series, aptly titled Neagley. Neagley is set to premiere on September 16, 2026, and for the first time in the franchise, every episode of the show will be released together.

Frances Neagley served with Reacher in his army days, and now works as a corporate security professional who lends Reacher a hand when she can. In Neagley, she learns that an old friend of hers has mysteriously died in an accident, and she travels to Chicago to investigate what happened.

This is the first spinoff of the Reacher franchise, and its success could encourage Prime Video to expand the Reacher universe, just as they did successfully with another beloved crime drama, Bosch. This release schedule is unusual for the Reacher franchise, but it’s not the first TV show to do a big season drop.

Reacher Aired Its Episodes Like A Typical Network TV Show

While the first season of Reacher dropped all its episodes at once, the last three seasons aired like most network TV shows do, with one episode a week. However, Reacher takes the unique approach of premiering the first three episodes of the season on the same day, then reverts to the once-a-week format.

For most of the history of TV, releasing an episode of a TV show once a week was the norm and expected. It wasn’t until streaming began to proliferate that the idea of binge-watching and having the whole season available at once took root. In recent years, though, it seems that a lot of streamers are going back to the once-a-week model. Neagley may be the odd one out.

Neagley Will Be A Very Different Show From Reacher

Neagley looks like it’s going to be a very different show from Reacher. Yes, it will have many of the same characters, but the story looks like it’s going to be more focused and not as wide-ranging as Reacher. Reacher goes from town to town solving the problems he encounters. Neagley is going to a specific town for a specific problem.

Reacher is also a throwback character. He’s a Western anti-hero who comes into town and leaves much the same way. Neagley is much more of an authority figure as a corporate security officer. She has people she can rely on and a network of powerful tech. Neagley will play more like a classic police procedural for all of this.
