Carrick on Rashford

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has confirmed that Marcus Rashford is fit for the Premier League clash against Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win over Sabah in the Champions League on Thursday night. Rashford was part of the matchday squad but did not feature in the end.

When asked for a reason, Carrick clarified that the attacker was being kept fresh and ready for the games ahead, and there was no fitness concern behind leaving him on the bench unused.

Rashford has had a good recent scoring record against the Cityzens in the Premier League and should relish the prospect of facing them on Sunday.

Matheus Cunha played on the left wing against Sabah yesterday with Benjamin Sesko upfront, but there could be a change for the weekend.

If Rashford is reinstated on the left side of the attack, we could see Sesko dropped for Cunha upfront, given the Brazilian has better ball control, which could be key to unlocking Man City‘s defence.
