One of Netflix‘s biggest hits of all-time is no longer a Top 10 hit.

Since making the shift to film productions after finding blockbuster success with the likes of Stranger Things and Bridgerton, the streamer has seen many of their high-profile titles rise to be all-time hits for the platform. This has included everything from Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot’s action comedy Red Notice amassing an impressive 454,200,000 hours viewed to Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple’s animated fantasy adventure Swapped netting an all-time Top 10 spot within two months. One has remained above all for the past year, though it just ended a major era.

Developed, co-written and co-directed by Maggie Kang, KPop Demon Hunters chronicled the journey of the band HUNTR/X, who utilize their music to protect the world from demonic threats, only to come under threat when a human-turned-demon forms a rival boy band. As they fight to maintain their popularity over their new competitors, the trio, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, find their sister-like bonds also gradually crumbling as their own secrets come out.

Originally produced by Sony before making its way to Netflix, KPop Demon Hunters quickly established itself as Netflix’s biggest movie of all-time, establishing itself as the most-watched original animated film within nine days and the No. 1 spot on the streamer’s all-time chart less than a month later. In the time since, the film went on to become the first Netflix film to top the box office with its late 2025 re-release, and the streamer’s best-performing release yet, and beat out two Disney hits for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

KPop Demon Hunters Has Lost Its Top 10 Netflix Spot For The First Time Ever

While not necessarily maintaining the No. 1 spot on weekly charts for the entire time, KPop Demon Hunters had notably spent 63 weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 since its June 20, 2025 debut, marking an impressive run for the animated hit. Now, per the platform’s latest global charts chronicling the week of August 31 to September 6, the film has fallen off the Top 10 entirely, having lost its No. 8 spot from the week before to The Angry Birds Movie 2.

Given how long the film spent in Netflix’s Top 10, it comes as something of a surprise that KPop Demon Hunters‘ era has already come to an end. Looking at the rest of the chart, only two more recent Netflix originals are situated on the chart, those being the Robert De Niro-starring The Whisper Man, which actually saw a 70% jump in viewership from its debut weekend, and the polarizing sci-fi thriller The Last House, which has been in the Top 10 for five weeks.

KPop Demon Hunters Is Bound To Start A New Streaming Era Soon

Though there’s expected to be another three years before KPop Demon Hunters 2 finally arrives, the film is very likely to enjoy a resurgence on streaming at some point. In the very near future, the arrival of Halloween will likely see younger viewers wanting to revisit the animated hit thanks to its supernatural elements and both the regular and sing-along versions available to watch on Netflix.

More notably, Netflix and AEG Presents are gearing up for their KPop Demon Hunters global concert tour, which doesn’t yet have a start date in place, but is expected to begin sometime in 2027. With the streamer also bringing the film to physical platforms for the first time with The Criterion Collection in November, the all-time hit is sure to regain its holds on popularity in the future.
