Man Utd to land new left-back in January

Manchester United are actively pursuing a new left-back solution for the winter transfer window.

The Red Devils were determined to land a new left-back during the summer, but could not find a suitable solution.

Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall was the top target, but the club could not convince the Magpies to sanction his transfer.

Manchester City’s Rayan Ait-Nouri emerged as an option on deadline day, but there was not sufficient time to finalise a deal.

United explored a loan deal for the Algerian with a buy option, but the Cityzens wanted an obligation to buy included.

The Red Devils therefore did not sign another left-back, but the hierarchy are likely to sort out the concern in the New Year.

Luke Shaw‘s performances have been a mixed bag this campaign and there is an acceptance that the Englishman should be replaced.

The hierarchy are closely monitoring multiple targets and could enter formal negotiations for some at the turn of the year.
