September 15 Is A Devastating Day For Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is going to take a massive hit on September 15, in what may already be the most devastating day for the subscription service this month. A few changes to Microsoft’s gaming service were announced earlier this week. The company shared the Wave 1 additions to the catalog in September 2026, which include an anticipated day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed. The highly addictive TCG Card Shop Simulator is also getting its Version 1.0 release via the service this month, and there are many other exciting additions.

However, there is also a downside to the monthly Wave announcements for the service. As was revealed in an official post on Xbox Wire, the Xbox Game Pass catalog will suffer a massive hit to its roster on September 15. According to the announcement, a total of 11 games are being removed from the various Xbox Game Pass tier catalogs, leaving players with only a few more days to check them out for free. Some can easily be finished in that time, while others may be impossible to beat in only a few days.

The 11 games are all leaving simultaneously on September 15. Among those 11 titles are some big hits, like Dead Cells, Frostpunk 2, Spiritfarer, and Superliminal. Perhaps the biggest loss on Xbox Game Pass is Cyberpunk 2077. For reference, the award-winning CD Projekt RED RPG was added to the catalog earlier this year, in early March, meaning that it only stayed a few months with the service.

The 11 games leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 15 are listed below:

  • Commandos: Origins (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Cricket 24 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (Cloud and Console)
  • Dead Cells (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Deep Rock Galactic Survivor (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Frostpunk 2 (PC)
  • Mullet Madjack (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Spiritfarer (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Superliminal (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Train Sim World 5 (Cloud, Console, and PC)

If you’ve made progress with any of these titles via Xbox Game Pass, I suggest you make an effort to beat them before they’re removed from the service, with no prospect of returning anytime soon. In case you’re playing a title that’s a little bit longer, like Cyberpunk 2077 itself, or perhaps Spiritfarer, which is one of the best Essential games on Xbox Game Pass, know that all of the titles leaving are currently at a limited-time discount.

Even though September 15 will be a massive blow to Xbox Game Pass members, subscribers will be getting new additions to the catalog throughout the month. Already available are Shelldiver, Speedrunners 2, and Dice a Million. Later this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, The Royal Writ, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds are joining the catalog. There are also three extra Xbox Game Pass freebies planned for this month.

All of this is only Wave 1. Once we get to the second half of the month, Microsoft should also announce the Wave 2 additions, which will include more games, possibly more bonuses, and a few removals planned for the start of October. While we are losing some massive games, there are always exciting new additions to Xbox Game Pass to look out for.
