Brentford 1-1 Sunderland
A Vitaly Janelt goal and an Enzo Le Fee penalty shared the spoils at the Gtech Community Stadium in a match that both sides will feel they could have won.
Janelt gave Brentford the lead in the 57th minute, arriving from deep to steer a composed finish past Anthony Patterson, and Keith Andrews’ side looked on course for their second home win of the season.
Sunderland, however, refused to fold. With eight minutes remaining, Le Fee stepped up to convert from 12 yards, drawing the visitors level.
Both teams finish the afternoon on four points after three games. Kevin Schade has led the line with real threat for Brentford and continues to generate the most chances of any Bee this season, while Igor Thiago pressed and harassed throughout.
Brighton 1-1 Leeds
Leeds extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a hard-earned point at the Amex, though Joel Bogle will consider himself lucky to have still been on the pitch when he opened the scoring.
The right-back was shown a yellow card in the sixth minute for a serious foul play challenge on Maxim De Cuyper that could quite easily have resulted in red, and the controversy lingered over the opening exchanges.
But Bogle made amends in the 15th minute, converting coolly from Ao Tanaka’s delivery to give Leeds an unexpected lead.
Brighton, who dominated possession as they have done in both previous league fixtures this season, pushed with increasing urgency in the second half and eventually levelled to take a share of the spoils.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side have now scored in both home games and shown genuine attacking threat, but conceding first has been a recurring problem that will need addressing.
Fulham 2-3 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace claimed their first Premier League win of the season in dramatic fashion at Craven Cottage, coming from behind to beat Fulham 3-2.
Fulham had fought their way in front at 2-1 through Cesar Palacios, a goal that seemed to give Alvaro Arbeloa’s side the platform they desperately needed after two opening defeats.
But Palace, also without a point going into the afternoon, refused to accept the situation and produced a rousing finale.
Ben Chilwell was the match-winner, turning the tie on its head with the goal that made it 3-2 and prompted scenes of celebration from the travelling contingent at Craven Cottage.
