Zimbabwe kept their hopes of reaching the T20I tri-series final alive with a five-wicket win over Namibia in Windhoek. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Zimbabwe’s attack made an excellent start before Gerhard Erasmus and Alexander Busing-Volschenk rebuilt the Namibia innings and helped them post 156/6.
Zimbabwe’s batting has struggled for consistency during the series, but Innocent Kaia provided the stability they needed in the chase. The opener shared important partnerships with Brian Bennett and Sikandar Raza before his dismissal brought a brief wobble, with Zimbabwe eventually completing the chase in the 19th over.
Zimbabwe make early inroads before Erasmus leads recovery
Zimbabwe produced the best powerplay bowling performance of the series after Raza elected to field. Louren Steenkamp fell to Brad Evans in the fourth over, while Blessing Muzarabani removed Jan Frylinck before Kundai Matigimu claimed his first T20I wicket by dismissing Zane Green. Namibia were reduced to 26/3, their lowest powerplay score of the series. Erasmus then took charge alongside Busing-Volschenk, with the pair adding 83 runs for the fourth wicket to put the hosts back on track.
Erasmus accelerated after reaching his fifty from 32 balls and took particular advantage of anything short. He finished unbeaten on 88 from 55 deliveries and smashed 14 runs from Evans’ final over to lift Namibia to 156/6. Evans ended with 2/29 and moved to eight wickets in the series, joining Duan Jansen as the leading wicket-taker.

Innocent Kaia produces career-best knock to seal Zimbabwe win
Zimbabwe lost Ben Curran early in the chase, but Kaia immediately put pressure back on the Namibia attack. He punished the short ball repeatedly, pulling and hooking effectively before reaching 36 by the end of the Powerplay as Zimbabwe moved to 59/1. Kaia continued to control the chase against both pace and spin, bringing up his fifty with another powerful pull. He had taken Zimbabwe to within 33 runs of victory when he attempted another big shot and top-edged a pull off Jack Brassell to Erasmus at mid-on.
Kaia’s 72 was his career-best T20I score and came after he was brought into the XI in place of Dion Myers. Zimbabwe briefly lost three wickets for eight runs in 11 balls, but Ryan Burl and Tadiwanashe Marumani finished the job in the 19th over. The result moved Zimbabwe ahead of Namibia in the standings and kept their final hopes alive. They will qualify if South Africa beat Namibia on Friday, although their net run rate remains negative.
