It’s officially the end of an era for Taylor Sheridan’s Landman thanks to a disappointing behind-the-scenes development. Landman has been on a hot streak since it began. It’s quickly becoming one of Taylor Sheridan’s best shows, it gets great reviews from critics and viewers alike, and Landman season 3 was renewed even before season 2 ended. Audiences are hungry for more of the Norris family’s story, and Sheridan is more than willing to write it.

Despite all that success, Landman is also approaching the end of an era. That’s partly due to some story decisions and the ending of Landman season 2. In season 3, Tommy won’t be working for M-Tex or Cami anymore, he has a much better relationship with his family than he did at the beginning of the show, and one of Landman‘s co-creators teased a “reset” for the series that could give the entire Norris family more problems and stress to deal with.

Landman is also reaching the end of an era behind the scenes, however, and it’s more concerning than the story reset that has been teased. James Jordan, who plays Dale, revealed that Landman season 3’s filming schedule had been delayed by several months. Now, the show is set to begin filming in September. While that may not seem like a massive deal, it marks the end of one of Landman‘s best trends and a big reason the show got as popular as it is.

Landman Season 3 Will Premiere Over A Year After Season 2

Since Landman season 3 won’t start filming until this month, its production schedule means the new season won’t premiere until 2027 at the absolute earliest. That means Landman season 3 is going to be the show’s first installment to not come out a year after its predecessor. Landman season 1 premiered in December 2024, and season 2 premiered almost exactly a year later, in December 2025. Landman season 3, however, is going to premiere closer to a year and a half after season 2.

Landman‘s historically speedy production schedule was one of the best things about the show, and one of its biggest advantages. Many modern streaming shows have huge hiatuses between seasons; Severance, Wednesday, and more all took nearly three years between seasons. Landman set itself apart by debuting two seasons in the span of just one year, a rarity in the modern streaming landscape.

It’s hard to overstate how important Landman‘s production schedule was. That one-year schedule means viewers don’t have nearly as much time to lose interest, and that viewer retention was almost certainly a major factor in Landman breaking multiple streaming records for Paramount+. It was also a selling point for Landman in general; no one wants to start a show they know they’ll have to wait years for, and it was a talking point right from the beginning.

Now, all the advantages of Landman‘s production schedule are going to disappear. Season 3 won’t be able to premiere until at least February 2027, and it will more likely premiere in May of that year. That’s a long time to wait for new episodes. Landman‘s target audience may move on to new shows in that span of time, and the show is going to lose a lot of momentum.

Tulsa King & Dutton Ranch Can Continue Sheridan’s Quick Streaming Schedule

Luckily for Taylor Sheridan, Landman isn’t the only show of his that is known for its speedy production schedule. Both Tulsa King and Dutton Ranch are right on track to come out with new seasons almost exactly a year after their last outings. Tulsa King season 4 has already wrapped filming, meaning there’s very little that can delay its October 16 release date. In fact, Tulsa King season 4 even released its first teaser trailer.

Dutton Ranch, on the other hand, is a little bit less certain, but there’s still plenty of reason to be optimistic about it. Despite some behind-the-scenes changes, like a switch in showrunner and Taylor Sheridan taking on a more creative role, Dutton Ranch season 2 is set to start filming in early 2027. That schedule puts it right on track to premiere in May or June 2027, almost exactly a year after season 1’s May 2026 premiere date.

Tulsa King season 4 and Dutton Ranch season 2 may even help Landman absorb some of the blow of its own delay. Taylor Sheridan’s shows, while unique, often scratch the same itch. Having both Tulsa King and Dutton Ranch may help keep his viewers’ attention and good will long enough for Landman to return, or at least help soothe the disappointment of its delay. With any luck, Taylor Sheridan and Landman will be able to take this all in stride.
