Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle to sign Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara from Monaco following the departure of Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues earlier on deadline day agreed to part with Argentina international Fernandez, who is set to complete a move to Manchester City for a British record-tying fee of £125million.

It had been though that Chelsea would be unable to source a replacement, with Monaco reported to have rejected two offers for Camara and Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini said to have blocked France international Manu Kone from leaving the Stadio Olimpico.

But, with under two hours left in the transfer window, Fabrizio Romano reported Chelsea have come to terms on a €55million (£47m) deal for Camara, who has been given permission to undergo a medical.

Camara will reportedly sign a contract until 2032 with the option for an additional year.

The 22-year-old has made 73 appearances, with 66 starts, for Monaco since joining from Metz in 2024.

He has won 49 caps for Senegal, scoring seven goals, and played in all four of the Lions of Teranga’s games at the 2026 World Cup as they exited the tournament in the round of 32.
