Borrusia Dortmund weigh up Deadline Day swoop for Ethan Nwaneri

Borussia Dortmund are exploring a potential dramatic Deadline Day swoop for Ethan Nwaneri, Florian Plettenberg has reported.

With the German giants looking to add attacking reinforcements ahead of Tuesday’s Deadline Day, Dortmund have internally discussed a potential loan deal for the Arsenal’s starlet.

The Sky Germany reporter also suggested that BVB had shown concrete interest last summer and were hopeful of reaching an agreement with the reigning Premier League champions.

However, while a potential deal might have failed to materialise 12 months ago, the England U21 International remains a genuine option on Deadline Day.

Completely omitted from Mikel Arteta’s squad for Monday’s 1-0 victory away at Aston Villa, the 19-year-old has been informed that he will be allowed to leave north London should an acceptable offer be presented.

Nwaneri spent the second-half of last season on loan with French outfit Marseille and registered two goals and one assist in his nine Ligue 1 appearances.

With Arteta openly discussing the prospect for another stint away from the Emirates this summer, Nwaneri is one of a handful of attacking stars the Dortmund hierarchy are assessing.

Making his record-breaking Arsenal debut as a 15-year-old, he remains the youngest player to ever appear in a Premier League fixture.

With it incredibly hard to see where Nwaneri will find regular minutes among Arteta’s defending champions this season, the 19-year-old should relish an opportunity to help Dortmund mount a genuine Bundesliga title charge.
