Inter Miami interim head coach Guillermo Hoyos was left speechless after Lionel Messi’s masterclass in their 7-1 win over CF Montreal.

Messi scored four and assisted one as he turned on the style for Miami, who snapped a four-game winless streak in MLS.

Casemiro’s first goal for the club was cancelled out by Fabian Herbers, though Messi restored Miami’s lead just before half-time with a deflected free-kick and got his second shortly after the break.

Miami then enjoyed a late flurry of goals from the 80th minute, with Messi superbly setting up Suarez before getting his final two goals on either side of Alexander Shaw’s strike.

Messi now leads the MLS Golden Boot race, having taken his tally to 18 goals, as well as 10 assists, while he has now scored at least twice in each of his last three meetings with Montreal.

“There are no words to describe such footballing beauty,” Hoyos said of Messi.

“So much is going on that words simply fall short.

“He is constantly looking for that goal, that play, that pass; I don’t think he’s an ordinary footballer. Analysing him, both as a player and as a person, goes so deep that you run out of words.”

Messi and Casemiro hit the woodwork before the latter opened the scoring in the 20th minute.

This game marked the first time that Miami have scored seven goals in a league game, and Casemiro was also left in awe of Messi’s influence on the team.

“That’s what it means to have Messi on the team,” Casemiro told Apple TV.

“We have to enjoy these moments because he is a person, a player who makes history.

“We saw that we have to enjoy it, keep supporting and keep competing with him because he continues to be the best.

“He proved it in the World Cup. We have to enjoy it because, with him, we are so much stronger.”
