Every Character Confirmed For GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 returns to the classic Vice City setting, but a new roster of characters comes alongside the jump to a modern setting and a larger look at the state of Leonida. The game’s first trailer revealed a Bonnie and Clyde-style couple at the center of things, but not much else in the way of central figures. After the release of the second trailer, however, Rockstar Games showed off a lot more information about the cast, and the Netflix special doubled down with extended story sequences.

While the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, come across as relatively grounded, GTA 6‘s supporting characters seem just as wacky and memorable as ever. Some are kicking it old-school with the kind of drug running that appeared in Vice City, while others take advantage of new criminal opportunities provided by the modern age. There’s no doubt that some of them will end up getting in too deep, but just how things will shake out for everyone in Leonida remains to be seen.

Jason Duval Is Embroiled In Crime

The Straight & Narrow Was Never An Option

Like a lot of other GTA protagonists, avoiding the life of crime would have been tough for Jason Duval. He “grew up around grifters and crooks,” according to Rockstar‘s official website, and enlisting in the military didn’t set him on a radically different path. At the time of the game, he’s been trafficking drugs and collecting rent — violently when necessary — for a drug-running veteran in the keys.

Of course, this is GTA, so things are about to change, and the odds that everything will go exactly according to plan are nonexistent. Jason picks Lucia up from prison in the second trailer, but the two of them clearly don’t take that stint as a sign to end any interest in criminal enterprises. The exact nature of their big plan isn’t specified, but Jason insists that whatever they’re doing, they need to do it right.

Lucia Caminos Is Fresh Out Of Prison

Fighting For Family

Lucia’s team-up with Jason puts the focus on romantic love in GTA 6, but her backstory emphasizes her family. She learned to fight from her father, and her focus on fulfilling the dream of a good life comes from her mother. “Fighting for her family” is what led to her incarceration, but her takeaway from the experience seems to be less about following the law and more about breaking it more carefully.

Like Vice City‘s Tommy Vercetti, Lucia has roots in Liberty City, the setting of GTA 3, 4, and several other games in the series. Whether robbing a convenience store or brawling next to the landing gear of a mid-flight plane, Lucia has a lot ahead of her if she wants to make it big. Her ambition might outmatch Jason’s, which could push them both into some dangerous places. In the midst of all these opportunities, it looks like she also still has some community service to do, and her correctional social worker, Stefanie, will also play a role in the game.

Cal Hampton Has Some Crazy Ideas

A Conspiracy Theorist With No Aspirations

A friend of Jason’s, Cal Hampton is the kind of casual conspiracy theorist that America is particularly good at creating. While he doesn’t trust the Coast Guard or the existence of birds, he seems content to hang out with a beer and a mini-golf club or pool cue.

Jason, with Lucia at his side, is gunning for more, which could spell trouble for Cal. He’s also looped in with Brian Heder, a local veteran of the drug-running scene who enjoys a similarly relaxed lifestyle when he can. In a clip from the second trailer, Cal crudely requests some romantic wingman help while wearing a soiled t-shirt emblazoned with the logo for Brian’s boatyard.

Boobie Ike Already Made It Big

A Success Story From The Streets

Boobie Ike is a character who’s already fulfilled the GTA fantasy. Starting in the streets, he’s hustled his way to becoming a real estate tycoon, strip club owner, and media mogul. You don’t get there without taking business seriously, and he knows how to make his money work for him.

The music industry is apparently where his current passion lies, and Boobie is committed to working with Dre’Quan Priest to make things happen. If their new label Only Raw Records can find the fortune of Boobie’s past enterprises, it could be a game-changer. Money can’t always buy industry success, though, so a little luck might also be necessary.

Dre’Quan Priest Has A Record Label To Push

Booking Strip Club Acts Can’t Last Forever

Like Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan has a history of hustling on the streets, and he’d also like to break out of that world. For him, it’s all about the music, and his partnership with Boobie on the Only Raw Records label could be his opportunity to take the scene by storm.

Dre’Quan has experience booking acts for Boobie’s strip club, so he should know what gets people excited and what doesn’t. He’s signed Real Dimez to the label, but it’ll take a joint effort to leverage their potential into an Only Raw Records hit.

Real Dimez Needs Another Hit

A Rap Duo With An Uncertain Future

As far as GTA 6’s character roster goes, Real Dimez is a bit of a two-for-one situation. The duo comprises Bae-Luxe and Roxy, long-time friends who have staked their claim in both the rap industry and social media. Like everyone else involved in the Only Raw Records enterprise, they’re using what they learned in small-scale criminality as the basis for their industry strategy.

Real Dimez already had a popular track thanks to a collaboration with a local rapper, but the trick is capitalizing on that past success to become more than a one-hit wonder. Five years have passed since that breakout, so the momentum has certainly stalled. Luckily, Boobie Ike and Dre’Quan Priest are both invested in recreating the magic.

Raul Bautista Is A Professional Bank Robber

Risks Pay Off, Until They Don’t

GTA 6 could hardly be a Grand Theft Auto game without a bank robbery or two, and Raul Bautista is here to make that happen. While heisting money from the places designed to keep it safe isn’t easy in the modern age, Raul has made a career of it. The second trailer shows a Fast Five-style clip of a heavy-duty truck dragging a vault through the streets, which could very well be his doing.

That being said, his winning streak might not last forever. With a penchant for raising the stakes with each robbery, Raul runs the risk of eventually biting off more than he can chew. If he goes out, he’ll at least go out in style, as he’s kicking it old-school Vice City style with a nicely tailored white suit. The main hope is that he doesn’t bring Jason and Lucia down with him.

Brian Heder Handles The Drugs

Jason’s Employer, For Better Or Worse

Speaking of old-school Vice City, Brian’s been smuggling drugs in the Keys since the time that it was legitimately trendy. You don’t stay in the game that long by constantly putting your life on the line, and he has others who take the real risks for him, Jason included. In the second trailer, Brian informs Jason that Jason’s personal information has fallen into the wrong hands. If the cut to police officers immediately afterward means anything, he’s presumably talking about law enforcement.

“I hauled so much grass in that plane, I could make the state of Leonida levitate.” – Brian Heder

Brian does provide Jason with some free housing — strings attached, of course — so that relationship could be worse. The second trailer also features Brian admonishing Jason for fixing leaks in his own roof when he could be collecting rent from Brian’s other properties. With his days of personal drug running behind him, Brian manages the criminal affairs at his boatyard and lives the beach bum lifestyle with his third wife, Lori.

Mendez

GTA 6 Mendez

Mendez first appeared in the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, and the Netflix special finally attached a name to the face. He appears to be a major figure associated with the Vice City Police Department. In the extended look, Mendez is involved in a police raid that happens while Jason and Lucia are attempting to pick up drugs for a client.

During the raid, one criminal protests that his gun isn’t loaded and drops it on the ground, only to have Mendez mockingly say “Too bad,” before shooting him in the head. Jason and Lucia are both aware of who Mendez is, and he’ll likely be the antagonistic face of law enforcement in the game.

Andrés de León

Andres de Leon GTA 6

Andrés de León plays a central role in part of the story revealed in the GTA 6 extended look, as Jason and Lucia work as security for him before everything goes south at a corporate party. Valentina, a character who returns from a brief appearance in GTA Online, hires them on his behalf.

Andrés appears to be an unsurprisingly egotistical executive, with Valentina instructing Jason and Lucia to “gas him up,” which Jason takes to mean “babysit” him. He may or may not be of great importance in the game as a whole, but the coordinated attack that ends up happening at the party suggests that his company, Megamundo, probably has a large role to play.

Grand Theft Auto games always encompass a wide tapestry of characters, and the ten who have been covered in detail so far definitely won’t be the only interesting figures to appear. They can be expected to have some of the most pivotal roles in Grand Theft Auto 6, however, and the focus on characters involved with the boatyard drug-running enterprise and Boobie Ike’s music industry pivot offers an interesting look at what the potential focus of the story could be.
