Liverpool strike agreement to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG

Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign forward Bradley Barcola in a deal worth around £120m, according to The Athletic.

More than £100m of the package is guaranteed, with the two clubs agreeing the broad terms of the transfer overnight.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon are overseeing the negotiations, with the final details now being worked through.

The move could also have consequences for Cody Gakpo, who has been linked with Tottenham throughout the summer and has also attracted interest from Manchester City.

Liverpool identified Barcola as their leading target to replace Mohamed Salah earlier in the summer, with the club preparing an opening offer for the France international in July.

Salah replacement

The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his PSG contract but has made it clear that he does not intend to extend his stay with the European champions.

He was subsequently left out of PSG’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Barcola predominantly operates on the left wing but can also play on the opposite flank. He faced competition for places from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue last season and was often used from the bench during the latter stages of PSG’s Champions League campaign.

Despite that competition, Barcola made 49 appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists as PSG retained the Ligue 1 title and continued their success in Europe.

Since breaking into the first team, the Lyon academy product has registered 39 goals and 37 assists in 152 appearances for the club.

Barcola also played a major role for France at this summer’s World Cup, featuring in all eight matches and scoring three goals.
