The best back-to-school backpack is not simply the one with the prettiest product photo. It needs straps that do not punish the shoulders, enough depth for the actual binder situation, pockets that keep a water bottle upright and a style the person carrying it will not be tired of by October.
This list covers middle school, high school, college and commuter life, with minimalist, colorful, sporty and polished options. Before buying, measure the laptop or tablet and check whether the school requires clear bags. A “laptop sleeve” is not useful if it is two inches too small.
