Goalkeeper selection is often one of the first – and most important – decisions in Fantasy Premier League squad building. Whether you prefer a premium set-and-forget option, a value starter with save point potential or two 4.5m goalkeepers who rotate well, there is a strategy to suit every type of manager.
This season offers plenty of appealing options across every price point. From Arsenal’s reliable number one to budget picks with strong fixtures and a potential 4.0m enabler, these five goalkeepers can help shape the rest of your squad while still offering genuine routes to points in Fantasy Premier League.
Antonin Kinsky
Price: 4.5m
Ownership: 19.5%
Position: Goalkeeper
Fixtures: BRE (A), NEW (H), NFO (A)
Antonín Kinský is one of the most popular 4.5m goalkeepers among engaged FPL managers – and it is easy to see why. He offers a strong rotation pairing with Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen, helping managers target the better fixture each week without spending heavily between the posts.
Kinský finished last season as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper, starting their final seven matches and producing several standout saves. Spurs conceded 57 goals from 50.9 expected goals against, so a defensive improvement under their new setup would make the Czech goalkeeper even more appealing. At 4.5m, he looks like one of the best-value options in his price bracket.
Senne Lammens
Price: 5.0m
Ownership: 19.6%
Position: Goalkeeper
Fixtures: HUL (A), IPS (H), EVE (A)
Senne Lammens is a very appealing 5.0m goalkeeper option after an impressive debut season at Manchester United. He averaged 2.5 saves per match, ranked among the best keepers for bonus points per game, and offers genuine shot-stopping upside alongside clean-sheet potential. That makes his 5.0m price look attractive, especially with the team finishing third last season.
He is not quite as secure defensively as David Raya, but for managers who want a 5.0m middle ground between premium and budget goalkeepers, he looks like excellent value.
Bart Verbruggen
Price: 4.5m
Ownership: 18.1%
Position: Goalkeeper
Fixtures: AVL (H), CHE (A), LEE (H)
Bart Verbruggen is another appealing 4.5m goalkeeper, particularly for managers choosing two budget options. He rotates very well with Kinský, giving managers a favourable fixture to target in almost every Gameweek through to Gameweek 16. It is also an attractive pairing for those planning to Bench Boost in Gameweek 1, with both sides handed playable fixtures.
Verbruggen’s save potential strengthens his appeal. He averaged 2.8 saves per 90 minutes last season, and recorded 106 saves overall. That gives him a useful points floor even when Brighton fail to keep a clean sheet.
David Raya
Price: 6.0m
Ownership: 31.1%
Position: Goalkeeper
Fixtures: COV (H), AVL (A), CHE (H)
David Raya is the safest set-and-forget goalkeeper in FPL. Arsenal remain the league’s best defensive side, and Raya finished last season as the top-scoring goalkeeper with 162 points and 19 clean sheets.
The drawback is purely price. Raya plus a 4.0m backup costs 10.0m – 1.0m more than pairing Kinský and Verbruggen at 4.5m each. That extra money can make a real difference elsewhere in your squad, but if you want to avoid fixture rotations and guarantee a reliable starter every week, Raya is the goalkeeper to own.
Alex Palmer
Price: 4.0m
Ownership: 5.7%
Position: Goalkeeper
Fixtures: SUN (H), MUN (A), LIV (H)
A 4.0m starting goalkeeper is rare in FPL, and Alex Palmer could yet become exactly that. He started Ipswich’s first three pre-season friendlies, including the match against Le Havre, which suggests Gary O’Neil has real trust in him. However, this is one to monitor rather than commit to yet. O’Neil has confirmed that no final decision has been made, while new Dutch signing Kjell Scherpen started Ipswich’s latest friendly against Rayo Vallecano.
Palmer’s route to minutes is real, but the competition is clear – so wait for the final pre-season line-up or O’Neil’s team news before selecting him.
