Everton want Delap

Everton have held talks with Chelsea over the potential transfer of striker Liam Delap, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Englishman joined the Blues from Ipswich Town last summer, and he had a difficult debut season with just two goals in all competitions.

The Blues have now opened the door for his departure, and it has been claimed that Delap would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

The Toffees held an interest in him during his time at Ipswich and they have now opened discussions with the Blues over a potential transfer.

Chelsea signed Delap for £30m last summer, and they are prepared to entertain his sale for around £40m before the transfer deadline.

Fellow striker Nicolas Jackson has also been linked with a possible exit with interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

However, the Senegal international appears determined to continue with the Blues. He is eager to prove his credentials under manager Xabi Alonso.
