View Arsenal summer 2026 transfer targets
Chelsea could turn their attention to landing Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi once Enzo Fernandez moves to Manchester City.
The Blues are in the process of sorting out the future of Fernandez. They have set an asking price of £120 million for the Argentine, and Man City are widely expected to match the valuation in the next 24 hours.
If that happens, the west London giants will want another experienced midfielder. Manager Xabi Alonso is said to prefer a defensive-minded option, and Zubimendi is reportedly one of the top names.
Zubimendi’s playing time at Arsenal was drastically reduced in the final month of last season, and he is no longer a guaranteed starter after the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United this summer.
The Spaniard is behind Guimaraes and Declan Rice in the pecking order, and also faces fierce competition from compatriot Mikel Merino and Myles Lewis-Skelly. He could move on as a result.
Alonso has been a firm admirer of Zubimendi for several years and wanted him at Real Madrid too. He is said to be pushing for the Spaniard, but he won’t come on the cheap with Arsenal wanting £77 million.
