Despite celebrating its eighth anniversary this year, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still as loved as ever. With many considering it to be Rockstar Games’ magnum opus, the narrative-driven action adventure game captured our hearts and minds back in 2018, and it still has its claws in us to this day, despite Rockstar leaving it in the dust to focus on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Still Going Strong

Thanks to the inclusion of Red Dead Online, the franchise has continued to exist, albeit in the background, but there is also another group to thank: Red Dead Redemption 2‘s modding community. Responsible for releasing a thousand and one ways to continue enjoying the hit Rockstar title almost a decade on from its release, there is no denying that they have kept the game alive, and this mod in particular is no exception.

As a standalone mod for the game, it does exactly what it says on the tin by adding brand-new enemy hideouts for players to encounter throughout the world’s large open-world map.

Adding new hideouts, ambushes, roaming gangs, hired guns, and more, players will be even less safe as they take to the American Frontier’s open roads thanks to enemies lurking around every corner. Originally starting off its life as a feature of the AMJM Transport mod, Bandit Hideouts has become its own, fully-fledged mod that hundreds of players are flocking to.

“So you understand what this mod does, it adds 143 bandit hideouts & 50 ambush points all over the map, that’s everywhere and anywhere except towns (settlements). That means there are some hideouts that will spawn at story and mission locations,” the mod description reads.

Fans Are Keeping RDR2 Alive

Offering heaps of new content, and for absolutely free, it is mods such as Bandit Hideouts that keep Red Dead Redemption 2 as popular as it is today. After all, there is only so much replayability that single-player games can have, but with the ability to dive into new content, whether that is brand-new missions or a simple cosmetic, the options are truly endless.

As such, players can dive into everything from a Saint Denis expansion to bountry expansions and everything in between, including a trip back to Guarma and a return to Mexico.
