Vinicius Junior set to stay at Real Madrid amid Arsenal interest

Real Madrid are increasingly confident Vinicius Junior will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this summer despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his contract, according to reports.

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish giants, with Premier League champions Arsenal among the clubs credited with an interest.

However, Sky Sports reports that Vinicius is now expected to stay in Madrid, with new head coach Jose Mourinho determined to keep him at the club.

Vinicius has just 11 months remaining on his current deal and, as things stand, would be able to leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2027.

Negotiations over a new contract have yet to produce an agreement, with reports suggesting the 26-year-old wants a salary that would surpass that of Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid’s highest-paid player.

Vinicius keeping space from training

The Brazilian has reportedly stayed away from first-team training while his future remains unresolved, but Real Madrid have no intention of cashing in during the current transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, the club are confident a new agreement will eventually be reached.

Despite speculation over his future, there has been little indication that Vinicius is actively pushing to leave the Spanish capital.

Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Brazilian side Flamengo in 2018 and has since established himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

He has made more than 375 appearances in all competitions, winning three La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns and two FIFA Club World Cups during his time at the Bernabeu.
