Bayern ‘would be stupid if we sold Diaz’, says CEO

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen says the club “would be stupid” to let Luis Diaz leave, amid speculation linking him to Al-Hilal.

The Saudi Pro League club have been heavily linked with a move for Diaz, with reports suggesting Al-Hilal are preparing an opening bid of €70m.

Diaz only joined Bayern in July last year, and impressed during his first season in the Bundesliga, making 51 appearances in all competitions.

From the start of the domestic season, he registered 45 goal involvements (26 goals, 19 assists), with only Harry Kane (61) scoring more goals than him.

Across Europe’s top five leagues, only Kane (68), Michael Olise (48), Kylian Mbappe (48) and Erling Haaland (45) contributed to more goals than Diaz.

But Dreesen is not keen to let the Colombian go any time soon.

“We would be stupid if we sold Diaz, wouldn’t we?” he told Kicker.

“We have a truly wonderful squad, honestly. Let us begin the season and get off to a start by scoring some goals!”

Bayern kick off their season with the DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22, with their Bundesliga title defence starting against Stuttgart the following weekend.
