THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE MASKED SINGER SEASON 13!The Masked Singer season 13 has teased a surprise return not seen in eight seasons during the Group C finals on Decades Night, and fans are speculating about what it could be. The Masked Singer season 13 welcomed back host Nick Cannon, along with panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. The Group C contestants were introduced on Carnival Night, and featured Cherry Blossom (Candace Cameron Bure), Stud Muffin (Method Man), and the Group C finalists Nessy, Mad Scientist Monster, and Yorkie.

In a teaser for The Masked Singer season 13 Group C finals on Decades Night (shared by The Singing Pearl via YouTube), the show teased a surprise return not seen in eight seasons. The preview begins with Nick announcing, “Let the battle commence!,” as clips of performances from Group C finalists Nessy, Mad Scientist Monster, and Yorkie are shown.
Then a voiceover states, “The last group finals will pit panelist against panelist,” as Jenny and Ken arm wrestle, and Jenny immediately wins. The voiceover continues, “And bring a surprise return we haven’t seen in eight seasons.“ A blue light is seen on stage, and then Ken says, “I want My Precious!,” as Jenny shouts, “No!”
In the comments section of the video, fans speculated about what the surprise return could be. They looked back to The Masked Singer season 5 because that season was eight seasons before the current season 13. One fan guessed that Decades Night could mark the return of Niecy Nash, who guest hosted the first five episodes of season 5 while Nick recovered from COVID-19, and others agreed. Nick eventually triumphantly returned to the show as Wild Card contestant Bull Dog, unmasking after his performance of “Candy Girl” by New Edition.
Others guessed that the return could be Donnie Wahlberg, who was The Masked Singer season 5’s Cluedle-Doo, a character who was similar to season 13’s Lucky Duck. Donnie shocked everyone, especially his wife, Jenny, when he unmasked at the end of the season after his performance of “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison. A fan excitedly asked, “Is it Donnie?!”
Some other fans thought that maybe the preview teased the return of the unmasking of a clue-giving character, and they speculated that Lucky Duck might be revealed during the Group C finals. One fan said, “I think it will be Taika Waititi,” who’s Rita’s husband. However, one fan pointed out that perhaps it was too soon for Lucky Duck to be unmasked, stating, “I don’t know. Seems a little early for that. I was thinking they would reveal him in the semi finals.”
What The Group C Finals Return Means For The Masked Singer
The Group C Finals Will Be So Suspenseful
In addition to revealing which Masked Singer season 13 Group C finalists will make it to the Lucky 6, joining Group A’s Coral and Paparazzo and Group B’s Boogie Woogie and Pearl, the Group C finals will be so suspenseful because of this mystery return. The fact that whatever it is hasn’t been seen in eight seasons is very intriguing, which means that a really big surprise could be coming our way.
Because it’s Decades Night, it’s very possible that Donnie could make a return to the stage to represent the ’80s or ’90s, when New Kids on the Block were first skyrocketing to superstardom. His Cluedle-Doo song, “Return of the Mack,” could be a hint.

It’s also highly possible that Lucky Duck will be unmasked during the Group C finals because his time for giving clues could be finished now that the show is moving into the semi-finals during the Lucky 6. It would be sweet if he turned out to be Rita’s husband, actor Taika Waititi, because Cluedle-Doo was Donnie, Jenny’s husband.
The only clue given about Lucky Duck’s identity so far was that he worked with guest panelist Casey Wilson on a historic TV series. It’s also unclear if Ken saying “My Precious,” which is a reference to Lord of the Rings, is a clue about what the return might be.
Our Take On The Masked Singer Group C Finals Return
The Return Will Be Spectacular
I think that there’s a good chance that the Masked Singer return not seen in eight seasons could be the unmasking of a clue-giving character, and Lucky Duck could be unmasked. However, I also think that the return of Niecy or Donnie could be possible as well. Another feature of The Masked Singer season 5 which fans didn’t mention was “The Sing-A-Long: The Maskie Awards” episode, which celebrated the best of the season with a sing-a-long and awards such as Most Feel-Good Performance and Most Game-Changing Performance. Perhaps this is making a comeback in season 13.
