KPop Demon Hunters 2's Perfect Sequel Title Has Already Been Revealed

While the sequel to KPop Demon Hunters is in development, its perfect title is ready to go. In addition to expanding its catalog every week with licensed content, Netflix continues producing its own movies and TV shows. Netflix has explored different genres and styles in its original movies, including animation, with some of its best animated movies being Klaus, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

Among the most recent additions to Netflix’s catalog of original animated movies is KPop Demon Hunters, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. KPop Demon Hunters introduced the world to the K-Pop girl group Huntrix, formed by Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who are actually the latest demon hunters. Although the official announcement took a while to arrive, KPop Demon Hunters is, unsurprisingly, getting a sequel. While the official title for KPop Demon Hunters 2 hasn’t been revealed, the world of KPop reveals the perfect title for it, which fans of the genre will definitely appreciate.

KPop Demon Hunters 2’s Perfect Title Is A Treat To KPop Fans

A huge part of the appeal of KPop Demon Hunters is, precisely, its K-Pop elements. Aside from the obvious elements such as Huntrix being a K-Pop girl band and the music they make, KPop Demon Hunters portrays K-Pop culture through the impact of Huntrix and Saja Boys on their audience, the high expectations they face, and their overall aesthetic. KPop Demon Hunters is so loyal to K-Pop elements that it had real-life K-Pop artists in its soundtrack.

Huntrix was modeled after popular K-Pop girl groups like Blackpink and Twice, with members of the latter collaborating on the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung performed the single “Takedown”, which they added to the final concerts of their tour, This Us For World Tour. Because of all this, it would be perfectly fitting for KPop Demon Hunters 2 to be titled KPop Demon Hunters: Comeback.

In the world of K-Pop, a “comeback” is when a group or artist releases new material, which usually includes a new look and theme. Unlike in other genres, where a “comeback” refers to an artist’s return after retirement or a long break, in K-Pop a “comeback” applies to a new single or album, regardless of how long passed between projects. KPop Demon Hunters: Comeback, then, is the perfect title for the sequel, referencing both the return of Huntrix in a new movie and with new music, and their return as demon hunters.

What Will KPop Demon Hunters 2 Be About?

Regardless of what the plot of KPop Demon Hunters 2 will be, Comeback is the perfect title, and it’s even better as Huntrix could be going through a musical rebrand. Exact plot details about KPop Demon Hunters 2 haven’t been revealed, but the directors and cast have shared some of their ideas and desires for it. Kang revealed they could explore Mira and Zoey’s backstories, with Ejae (who provided Rumi’s singing voice) later sharing she would love for it to go into trot and heavy metal.

With Gwi-Ma defeated but not destroyed, KPop Demon Hunters 2 will surely explore what happened to him and his return, whether a full one or through other demons. KPop Demon Hunters 2 also has to address the fate of Jinu, as the ending of the first movie teased his possible survival. KPop Demon Hunters 2 has been teased to arrive, at the earliest, in 2029, so it might be a while until its title is officially announced, but the perfect one is already there.
