India showcased a dominant performance during the second T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on July 25, 2026. The Men in Blue registered a comprehensive 90-run victory, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match bilateral series. Despite a clinical display across all departments, India’s head coach VVS Laxman delivered a firm message to the squad, urging players to avoid complacency as they prepare for the final match.

Addressing the team inside the dressing room following their convincing win, head coach VVS Laxman emphasized the fine line between drawing confidence from success and falling into comfortable patterns. In a post-match address released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Laxman reminded the young unit that high standards must be sustained regardless of the opposition.
“One more successful day, which means let’s not take comfort from the previous game, but let’s take confidence from the previous game, not get complacent,” Laxman stated.
Laxman praised openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma for setting an aggressive tone at the top. He also highlighted the middle-over rescue act by Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, who steadied the innings after two quick wickets fell.
“That was a tricky moment after losing two quick wickets, where Shreyas and Ishan used their experience. There was a lot of calmness out there in the middle,” Laxman observed, adding that standing at 95 without taking unnecessary risks by the 10th over demonstrated strong tactical maturity.
The coach also lauded the explosive 94-run stand between Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma, alongside Shivam Dube’s late execution, which pushed India past the 200-run barrier. Defensively, Laxman commended leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for controlling the middle overs and praised debutant fast bowler Yash Thakur for his composure under pressure, pointing out that the team’s relentless effort in the field reflects the core culture being built within the setup.

India’s total of 219/5 proved overwhelming for the hosts. Zimbabwe’s chase never gathered momentum as India’s bowling attack maintained disciplined lines from the opening over.
The victory secured the series for India with a game to spare. Armed with Laxman’s advice on keeping foot on the gas pedal, the Indian contingent turns its attention to the third and final T20I at the same venue on Sunday, searching for a 3-0 series sweep.
